1-Pacman Party-List Rep. Mikee Romero voiced his strong opposition to a proposed bill reducing the minimum age of criminal liability from 15 to 9 years old.

“Nine-year-old criminals, seriously?” Romero said in reaction to the House Committee on Justice’s approval of the bill that aims to penalize children as young as nine years old who commit serious crimes.

Romero said he would oppose the bill once it reached the House plenary level. “We definitely vote ‘no’ on lowering age of criminal liability to nine year old kids. Criminal liability should be to their parents, not the underage kids,” Romero said.
